About the position: Switch Bioworks is seeking a Lab Operations Technician. You will be responsible for supporting the research and development activities of the lab. Reporting to the Director of Lab Operations, you will work with the research and development teams both directly and in an operations function. Your daily activities will include routine molecular biology and microbiology tasks as well as inventory and equipment management. You will learn about startup operations as part of our inclusive, collaborative, and compassionate team.

Characteristics of a Successful Candidate:
Alignment with and excitement for our values.
Ability to work full-time in the US and be on-site in the California Bay Area. Available to start within 1 month.
Required skills:
Capable of lifting up to 20 lb.
Familiarity with routine biology lab tasks such as genomic and plasmid DNA extraction, PCR, agarose gel electrophoresis, glycerol stock preparation, and media preparation.
Familiarity with operation and basic maintenance of common biotech laboratory equipment, including autoclaves, glassware washer, biosafety cabinets, centrifuges, thermal cyclers, and water baths.
Preferred skills:
At least two years of experience in a biotech or biomedical lab tech or lab operations role.
Maintenance of environmental health and safety standards.
Hazardous materials shipping and disposal.
Using lab information management software (LIMS).
Experience working within FDA, USDA, and EPA regulated laboratories.
Ability to clearly communicate technical information to colleagues.
A team player seeking a career in laboratory operations management.
An execution-focused self-starter – a generalist problem solver with the drive to acquire new skills as needed.
Pay Range:
$60,000 - $80,000/ year
