
ELIZABETH ORDEMAN
SENIOR RESEARCH ASSOCIATE
Roots:
Elizabeth’s research in synthetic biology and protein engineering focuses on turning soil bacteria into living nitrogen fertilizer factories. Thus far, her innovative research has contributed to 2 provisional patents. In addition to her laboratory research, she works on IP strategy and spearheads business development for Switch’s nonprofit initiatives in Sub Saharan Africa.
Previously, Elizabeth was a product researcher at London-based Zulu Ecosystems, a company focused on ecosystem regeneration and carbon sequestration. While at Zulu, she developed software for ecosystem modeling and prediction of carbon sequestration potential.
Elizabeth is passionate about sustainability, female representation in STEM + entrepreneurship, and the intersection of ML and biology. Additionally, she is fluent in three languages, including German and Spanish. In her personal time, Elizabeth trains and competes for Team USA in Triathlon, and she recently won her first world championship title.
Elizabeth holds both a Master of Engineering in Bioengineering and a Bachelor of Science in Genetics and Plant Biology from UC Berkeley.
